Mirrabook Farms wishes you and yours the very best of the 2007 Christmas Season and a marvellous New Year in 2008. To all our wonderful friends, clients, new owners of our young horses and mare owners who bred to our stallions, thank-you for your support over the past season. Marilyn & Lynne
Our sales list was updated December 12, 2007 with some new photographs, video clips of some of the sales horses as well as new/updated listings of up and coming prospects. We have a number of 3 & 4 year olds that are not started yet, primarily because of Marilyn's enforced inactivity for 3 months summer 2006 while recovering from surgery. She is great now, but these horses did not get started and our riders are now back at school with less time available! Give us a call ... some great deals to be had if you can start your own!
Summer staff:
Stephanie Cox has returned for the summer and Fall. She will continue working with the young horses and assisting Lynne in the barn as well as competing Southern UrthAngel by Tramino and a couple of sales horses for the show experience. She will be returning to college in January.
Stallion video now available on DVD:
DVD copies are now available of our updated stallion video. New editing and footage. Call or write for a complimentary copy.

GELAN _R.I.P. April 3, 1983 - November 19, 2006
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our foundation stallion, Gelan, on November 19, 2006. He was a very large part of our lives for over 23 years and was a good competitor as well as a good sire. His many offspring have gone on to great successes and brought a lot of pleasure to their owners. Though Gelan had been retired from riding for several years after old injuries lead to arthritis, he maintained a wry sense of humor and had a zest for life.
That final day started as any other and Gelan enjoyed the success of dumping Charlie's wheelbarrow and he often tried to do. In the early afternoon, Gelan had gone down in his paddock to roll and was unable to stand again ... his right hind leg would not push up or support him. Without any power in the left hind after a previous stifle injury, he relied on the opposite hind. Our Veterinarian attended quickly and determined a loss of sensation in the right hind, possibly a neural trauma. Although we did manage to get him up, he was not able to support his own weight or walk. The day had been a grey, cold and rainy one, yet the weather broke for a short while and Gelan enjoyed the feel of sun on his face and a patch of green grass at his passing.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of Gelan's life, and ours - Linda, Charlie, Glen, Julie, Kip, Desiree, Nico, and many others. He was a very strong personality and chose his friends and work partners carefully. For those he respected there was no quitting or stop ... he would go to the ends of the earth. Though not particularly tall by today's standards, he had a magnificant presence and to those who were at all intimidated by him he enjoyed the game and missed no opportunity to look sideways at them ... we could see him enjoy the wry humor of the situation and be convinced he was smiling, yet he never took advantage of it. He was so confident of his own strength of personality as was his dam. Partners such as these do not come along very often and we had the priviledge of knowing two. Thank-you Gelan and Gaylorn.
"Run free old friend without the limits of age or infirmity .. we will meet again." Summer staff:
Stephanie Cox has joined us for the summer and will be working young horses and assisting Lynne in the barn. Stephanie has been a student of Marilyn for many years. She has just returned to college after having completed a year working for Dietrich von Hopffgarten where she had the opportunity to develop her riding skills with upper level horses.

2005 Stallion Performance Test:
Marilyn, Jessica & Kenner headed off to the CWHBA Stallion Performance Test in Olds, Alberta on August 22, 2006. The actual test ran from August 24 to September 6. Ken was a superstar and handled the whole thing very well. Unfortunately a puncture wound that happened on the first actual testing day in the jumping chute did hamper him slightly, though he completed the entire test and finished a respectable 3rd with an above average jumping index.
The foals of 2005 have arrived! Check out the new arrivals, some with photos. Mirrabook Farms' first foal of the season is a strong, healthy colt by Tramino out of Southern Quest, by Pacific Sunset ... we now have 6 foals with only one more to come. The first Autograph foals have arrived, and they are little clones of each other ... beautiful type, friendly, with refinement and lots of movement.
The Canadian Warmblood Horse Breeders Association and the Canadian Sport Horse Association have commenced discussions towards amalgamating the two associations. Read the Press Release here.
Our sales list has been updated July 10, 2005 with some new photographs, video clips of some of the sales horses as well as new/updated listings of up and coming prospects.

TRAMINO Returns to the Competition Ring:
Tramino, in his first recognized show since 2002, was the highest scoring Prix St. Georges horse over all 3 days of the Southlands Spring Dressage Show, May 7th - 9th in Vancouver, B.C. He scored 66.25% in his debut show with new rider Esther Mortimer - shown below with Tramino, the 'Claire & Telf Maynard Memorial Trophy', and of course, the bottle of champagne! We have some lovely yearlings & two year olds by Tramino available for sale. Please contact us for more information.

AUTOGRAPH NOW LICENSED BY CWHBA:
This 2000 Westfalen stallion by Artenstolz, is now licensed for breeding by the Canadian Warmblood Horse Breeders Association. Despite having been injured as a yearling, sustaining a serious fracture to one coffin bone, this young horse shows exceptional gaits with a good walk, expressive type and a lovely temperament. Unfortunately, this injury will preclude a sport career. Please check his page for special offers to approved and permium mares.
PALMAR SOLD:
Congratulations to new owner Lisa K. Niva of Los Gatos, California. Palmar will be standing the 2004 season at Five Star Farms in Morgan Hill, California. Contact new owner at: wigniv@comcast.net

Once again, all stallions donated to the 2003 CWHBA Stallion Service Auction were sold for good bids with Artenstolz being close to the top bid. Thank you all who bid on these boys Artenstolz, Formaat, Kingston, Oberon, Palmar and Tramino to make this once again a great Auction and fund raiser for CWHBA. Auction for Aiden
Mirrabook Farms donated two stallion services to the Auction for Aiden in December ... Gelan and Tramino. Congratulations to Alixe Cameron and Patricia Carlson on their successful bids. Check out the remarkable story of a little boy with Liver Disease. This wonderful auction raised significant funds for the American Liver Foundation trust fund for Aiden Hawk. Aiden has now had his liver transplant and, after some rocky moments, he continues to improve towards his first lead line class ... way to go!
Many thanks to the Chronicle of the Horse Bulletin Board members who organized this auction and promoted it for a good cause which we were happy to support.
Artenstolz RIP March 13, 1980 - December 16, 2002
Dear Breeders & Friends:
It is with a heavy heart that I post this note. After a lengthy struggle with some form of neurologic problem, Wendy decided to put Artenstolz down due to complications associated with it. As you can imagine, it was hard to come to this decision, but she felt it was best for him. As always, his spirit was indomitable even to the end and he died with dignity as suits him. He will be missed.
Artenstolz was a grand gentlemen and made a significant impact on the scene during the years he was here. We at Mirrabook Farms are blessed to have known him personally through all of those years and to have first hand watched the special partnership that he and Wendy shared. The daughters we have are a living testament to his strength of spirit, his impressive presence and his extreme willingness to work. Those progeny are precious ... look after them.
If anyone has any questions about their breeding, please contact me directly. I am sure that Wendy would be delighted to hear about Arte's kids from those of you who have them, or are expecting them.
After a long wait, we thank you for your patience. The photos we have so far of the 2002 foals are now loaded on the index page and linked to each sire. Please look at the Beautiful Babies! Some are for sale and a number already SOLD!
Find out what has been happening.
Mirrabook Farms has few breeding shares on the imported Rheinlander, Tramino still available ... please inquire. Details

In light of the tragedy of the events of last September 11, 2001, the stallion previously known as Osama, has a new show name and will now be known as OBERON. He will be developing a performance career in 2002 and will be available to select mares only, and by shipped semen. Please contact his owner directly.
Featuring some farm and client bred foals of 2001. We thank the clients who have sent us photographs ... it is wonderful to see the beautiful results of the planning!! A few of the foals featured are available for sale.
We welcomed in 2001 the imported Approved Rheinland & Westfalen stallion Tramino. In addition to our resident stallions Artenstolz, Gelan, Kingston and Tramino, Mirrabook Farms offers these stallions for the 2002 breeding season: Formaat & Art Nouveau (frozen only).
