Formaat was imported from Holland in 1989. A modern riding type of Dutch Warmblood horse being by the famous stallion WIDOR, a stallion who sired both excellent dressage and jumping horses. His paternal grandsire was the Selle Francais MARINIER. Formaat's dam is by PION, the sire of 6 approved sons including the well known North American stallion ARGUS, a successful jumper and dressage horse.

Formaat's get are now demonstrating their versatility in both the dressage and combined training disciplines:

• Chancellor - competing at Training/ 1st level dressage in Washington;
• Diano - competing 4th Level dressage in Arizona;
• Vision - winning at Prix St Georges/I 1 in Phoenix & BC;
