Formaat was imported from Holland in 1989. A modern riding type of Dutch Warmblood horse being by the famous stallion WIDOR, a stallion who sired both excellent dressage and jumping horses. His paternal grandsire was the Selle Francais MARINIER. Formaat's dam is by PION, the sire of 6 approved sons including the well known North American stallion ARGUS, a successful jumper and dressage horse.
